On 29th March, BCG hosted a learning support networking event to promote creating links with other local international schools as well as sharing good practices. We had attendees from Oak House, British School of Barcelona, Saint Peters and Benjamin Franklin School.
It was a great and enjoyable experience where special needs coordinators from all school phases (Primary and Secondary) participated in group discussions to continue improving the practices in supporting students through their learning journey.
Also on Monday April 17th we hosted the workshop "Growth mindset for parents" on how families can foster the development of positive beliefs about learning in their children.
This workshop was lead by Laia Boix, child neuropsychologist and school counselor. Laia has specific training in emotional education and wellbeing and has experience in giving workshops to parents and teaching teams.
In the workshop we set the following objectives:
- To know what the growth mindset is and how the internal belief system works when children and adolescents face difficulties or failures in learning.
- To introduce the types of fixed mindset vs. growth mindset.
- Review what the research says about the effects of mindset type on learning.
- To learn how to foster the development of growth mindset in children: coping with mistakes, reinforcing effort and modeling inner speech.
It was really interesting for all the families that joined.
