ENRICHMENT ECAP & OTHER CLUBS
Enrichment is a layered programme which encompasses a series of initiatives, activities and events adding depth and variety to the taught curriculum at The British College of Gavà.
One element of enrichment at BCG is our Extra Curricular Activities Programme (ECAP). Our ECAP allows students to extend their learning opportunities beyond the classroom and across a variety of relevant, purposeful and enjoyable sessions that cover a spectrum of academic, social, physical and cultural interests.
We achieve holistic learning goals by offering activities before, during and after school hours which allows students to access and practice life skills. . Here, we provide details of our most regular and popular activities.
· Extra Curricular Activities Programme (ECAP):
All these clubs require authorization through the School Booking System as they take place after the school day.
·Extra Curricular Enrichment Through Morning and Lunch Clubs / Booster Sessions:
These clubs do not require sign up and normally do not require additional payment as they take place throughout the school day.
*All activities are subject to change depending on enrollment interest and/or availability.

JUDO/ SELF-DEFENSE
The Japanese term JUDO translates as "road to flexibility" or “the way of gentleness”. It is an educational sport with a high level of fun for children and challenges for young people. UNESCO declared Judo as a recommended sport for young people as it provides a comprehensive physical education with a long list of short and long term physical and mental benefits. The main technical principle is to add to the opponent's strength, thus benefiting from it to create schemes of attack and defense, solutions of exits or escapes, tactics to obtain an effectiveness that leads to the best results etc...
Depending on the age of the students, the classes are more didactic (8-9-10 years old) or more technical towards Judo (11-12...).
In all the Judo classes there is a common denominator which consists of learning to fall (Ukemis) and training in the techniques regulated by the International Judo Federation.
The working methodology in the classes is as follows:
- Warm-up is through games (8-9-10 years old) or joint warm-up from 11 years old onwards. In the warm-ups we work on the Motor Skills.
- Back, side and forward falls.
- Explanation of Ne-Waza ground technique followed by randoris (wrestling).
- After a short break, explanation of standing technique Tachi-Waza followed by randoris (wrestling).
During the class we always work on the values of Judo such as:
Courtesy, friendship, self-control, respect, modesty, etc.
